OneLife is hosting its first Summer Palooza on Saturday at the Callaway County Fairgrounds.
From 10 a.m.-11 p.m., there will be carnival games, horse rides, a bounce house, face painting, yard games, hot wing contest, live entertainment and much more. There will also be several food vendors such as: Wrap It Up from Jefferson City, Kayla’s Coffee, K&J Cuisine and Papadoo’s/Voodoo from Columbia.
“We just try to live by the motto you just have one life,” said co-owner Maurice Bishop. “So we try to give the community the best life possible.”
They wanted to make sure the event was family-friendly and cost-friendly, so it’s $5 for adults and $2 for children.
A percentage of the proceeds will go toward local backpack drives and school supplies for children within the community. They will also be taking donations at the fairground from backpacks to notebooks to pencils, anything students could use at school.
In the past, OneLife has done some kickball and softball tournaments, some parties, a Thanksgiving food drive to help the homeless and a toy drive during Christmas for children in need.
“We try to give back to the community when we get blessed,” Bishop said. “We have success with our endeavours so when we have that success we try to give back.”
They will be using the Summer Palooza to help fund the backpack and school supply drive. They are also looking for a few barbers and hairstylists to help get the children ready for school and get them feeling confident.
Rich Friends from Jefferson City will also be holding a backpack giveaway of their own at the fair while supplies last.
OneLife will be holding a day where they will distribute backpacks to those in need; a day and time will be released in the future. For more information and updates, visit OneLife’s Facebook page.
